AENG 240.  Advanced Water Resources Planning

Factors and issues in water resources planning; application of systems methodologies. 3 hrs (class). credit 3 units. Offered 1st semester only. Prerequisite: ABE 179 or COI.

AENG 241.  Research Methods in Land and Water Resources Engineering 

Quantitative and qualitative research methods; validity and reliability considerations in research design; analytical tools and techniques; computer-oriented approaches; applications to land and water resources engineering problems.  3 hrs (class). credit 3 units. Offered 1st semester only. Prerequisite: COI.

AENG 242.  Water Management

Irrigation practice as affected by soil properties and topography; inter-relations of irrigation with tillage, fertility and fertilizer applications; moisture control during germination and harvest; irrigation for water conservation; influences of salinity and drainage on water management.  3 hrs (class). credit 3 units. Offered 1st semester only. Prerequisite: COI.

AENG 243.  Soil and Water Conservation

Agricultural hydrology; flood control and structures; diversion and waterways; relationship between water management and soil-water conservation; land clearing, development and formation.  3 hrs (class). credit 3 units. Offered 2nd semester only. Prerequisite: COI.

AENG 244.  Groundwater Hydrology

Groundwater as a source of water supply; occurrence and distribution; flow hydraulics; aquifer and well characteristics; well drilling, discharge, development, maintennance, and recharge.  3 hrs (class). credit 3 units. Offered 2nd semester only. Prerequisite: ENSC 16 and MATH 26.

AENG 245.  Drainage Engineering

Dynamics of soil water; rainfall run-off relations; seepage analysis; soil permeability measurements; generalized flow equations; design criteria; quantitative determination of drainage spacing and depth; subsurface and open ditch drainage design.  3 hrs (class). credit 3 units. Offered 1st semester only. Prerequisite: PR. ABE 73 and MATH 151.

AENG 247.  Water Quality Control Engineering

Water and wastewater characteristics; design and operation of water and wastewater treatment systems; water reclamation and re-use.  3 hrs (class). credit 3 units. Offered 2nd semester only. Prerequisite: ABE 177 or ChE 180 or COI.

AENG 248.  Erosion and Sediment Transport

Theories and models of erosion and sediment transport; control measures; soil and water conservation planning.  3 hrs (class). credit 3 units. Offered 1st semester only. Prerequisite: ABE 73 or COI.

AENG 249.  Statistical Hydrology

Frequency analysis; hydrologic models; single and multi-site generation of synthetic sequences; data augmentation; flood estimation; application studies.  3 hrs (class). credit 3 units. Offered 2nd semester only. Prerequisite: ABE 72 or COI.

AENG 290  -  Special Problems
